Scholarships: Judge Lucius Bunton Memorial Law Scholarship
Friends and family of Senior U.S. District Judge Lucius Bunton created this law scholarship fund in his memory. Judge Bunton served as a federal judge from 1979 until his death in early 2001. This fund provides scholarships to students pursuing a degree in law.
- Must be accepted to or currently enrolled in an accredited law school in the United States.
- Must be a resident of one of the following twenty-three counties upon high school graduation:
Andrews, Brewster, Crane, Crockett, Culberson, Dawson, Ector, Gaines, Glasscock, Howard, Hudspeth, Jeff Davis, Loving, Martin, Midland, Pecos, Presidio, Reagan, Reeves, Sterling, Upton, Ward, and Winkler. Preference will be given to a student who was born and raised in one of these counties.
- Required to submit a 250-word essay on a selected topic.
To be considered your application must contain:
- A 250 word essay on the topic: "Bipartisan Judicial Election in Texas: reform or leave well enough alone?" (Students who applied last year must present the opposite point of view expressed in their prior application).
