$157,250 in scholarships awarded by Permian Basin Area Foundation

July 13, 2007 – MIDLAND, TX – Permian Basin Area Foundation has awarded $157,250 in scholarships to assist 101 area students with costs of higher education. The awards were announced at the Foundation’s annual scholarship recognition dinner recently hosted in Midland. Joan Baskin was the featured speaker at the event.

The scholarships were made possible with resources provided by donors to 46 of the Foundation’s scholarship funds.

“Permian Basin Area Foundation is pleased to partner with our generous donors in making these scholarships possible,” said A. J. Brune, chairman of the Foundation’s board of governors. “Education is the cornerstone for building personal economic opportunity, and we applaud the students who have earned these awards and made a personal commitment to self-improvement through higher education.”

“Establishing a scholarship fund with the Foundation is a very simple process for a donor,” noted Guy McCrary, president of Permian Basin Area Foundation. “However, the value is a lasting investment in community and the future of our nation.”
