Permanent scholarship fund honors teacher, coach Johnny Peugh
April 9, 2007 STANTON, Texas A scholarship fund honoring the late Johnny Peugh has been established with Permian Basin Area Foundation. The Johnny Peugh Memorial Scholarship Fund honors the long-time West Texas teacher and athletic coach, who died on March 24, 2007. The fund will offer college scholarships to graduating seniors of Grady or Sands High Schools.
Johnny Peugh graduated from Sands High School and earned his degree from Texas A&M University. He coached basketball at Grady High School and Sands High School for 13 years and was an active supporter of 4-H and FFA and a breeder of fine show pigs.
Johnny was a wonderful teacher and mentor to his students over the years, according to Corky Blocker, a friend of the Peugh family since childhood, who currently serves as Martin County Judge. It is fitting that we honor his commitment to education through this permanent scholarship legacy.
Contributions to the Johnny Peugh Memorial Scholarship Fund may be made to Permian Basin Area Foundation, 200 N. Loraine, Suite 500, Midland, Texas 79701.
