Guy McCrary to head Permian Basin Area Foundation

February 27, 2007 – MIDLAND, Texas – Guy McCrary has been selected to serve as President and CEO of the Permian Basin Area Foundation (PBAF). McCrary, who has Photo - Guy McCraryserved the organization since 2001 as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer will assume the new position immediately.

Since moving to Midland in 1979, McCrary has been a volunteer leader for numerous civic and community activities in addition to serving as Midland County Commissioner for Precinct 2 from 1987 through 1998. McCrary earned a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and a master’s degree from the University of Central Texas. After serving in the U.S. Army from 1975 to 1979, McCrary moved to Midland and has worked in banking, real estate, oil and gas, and marketing and management consulting.

“Guy has been a big part of the success of the Foundation in recent years and we are most fortunate to be able to call upon his experience and insights into the organization and our region,” said A. J. Brune III, Chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Governors.

“This Foundation is a great asset for the communities of our region, and it is truly an honor for me to assume this position,” McCrary said. “I look forward to working with our dedicated staff in advancing the Foundation’s capacity and our contributions to the quality of life in West Texas.”

The Permian Basin Area Foundation facilitates the creation of permanent charitable funds in partnership with many donors, and provides grants to address changing community needs and enrich the quality of life in the Permian Basin. During 2006, the Foundation made grants and scholarships totaling $1.8 million, and grew to $42 million in total assets of permanent charitable funds. The Foundation recently received a $5 million grant for the TRIAD Fund project to address needs of military service members who have been deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan and their families.

Permian Basin Area Foundation is certified by the Council on Foundations as compliant with National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations.
