New Scholarship Funds established

Permian Basin Area Foundation has recently added the following new scholarship funds:

Photo - Kristen CorbinThe Kristen Corbin Memorial Scholarship was created by family and friends of Kristen who died in August 2007, just days before she was to begin her senior year at Andrews High School. Kristen was a dedicated student and star athlete and active in her church and community. Each year a student athlete from Andrews High School will be awarded this scholarship.

Photo - The HaggardsRuby Haggard created the J. Alex & Ruby Henson Haggard Scholarship in memory of her husband Alex, who died in 2002. Scholarships will be awarded to graduates of West Texas high schools based on academic excellence, community service, and need with preference given to those pursuing degrees in agriculture/ranch management, architecture, library science, historic preservation, and landscape architecture.

Photo - Kristen CorbinBonnie Brumley created the Bob & Bobbie Hill Scholarship Fund in honor of her mother and in memory of her father. Bob & Bobbie Hill were long time residents of Martin County. This scholarship will be awarded each year to a graduating senior from a Martin County high school.

Photo - The HaggardsThe Stephen Neace Memorial Scholarship was created by family and friends of Stephen Neace who died in late 2007. Stephen was a graduate of Monahans High School and the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. This fund will provide scholarships to graduating seniors of Monahans High School who will be attending UTPB to study biology.

The Permian Basin Scholarship for Petroleum Engineering was created by Midland oil operator Bill Wallace for undergraduates studying Petroleum Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin.

Applications for most of the Foundation’s scholarships are due March 31st. For a complete list of scholarships, including criteria and application forms, visit this page.
