Foundation awards $268,894 in fall grants

Following the Fall 2007 grant review cycle the Foundation awarded $268,894 in grants to 32 nonprofit organizations serving the region’s communities.

PhotoBoys & Girls Club of Terlingua for after school programs in Brewster County.

Buffalo Trail Council, Boy Scouts of America for programs to support youths achieving positive personal goals and becoming good citizens.

Christmas In Action of Midland to purchase materials used in the renovation of substandard homes in Midland County.

Christmas In Action of Odessa to assist in needed repairs for low-income elderly in Ector County.

Church on Wheels to provide evening meals for the needy served by the Breaking Bread Kitchen in Midland.

City of Midland Community Development to provide assistance to low income first time home buyers.

Crockett County Museum in Ozona to help purchase a new elevator.

Friends of the Texas Historical Commission to assist with preservation plans for rural cemeteries in West Texas.

PhotoThe Gladney Center for Adoption to provide education and outreach to mothers and families of adopted children.

The Gleaning Network of Texas to supply area food banks and pantries with fresh fruits and vegetables.

Greenwood Little League to support expansion of Little League baseball fields.

Harmony Home Children’s Advocacy Center to assist victims of child abuse and their families.

The Life Center to purchase inventory for the Baby Boutique, where expectant parents participating in family classes can purchase new baby clothing and supplies.

Midland Affordable Housing Alliance to promote advocacy and collaboration among nonprofits developing affordable housing in Midland.

Midland Community Development Corporation to assist with the development of low-income housing in Midland.

Midland Fair Havens to assist single mothers and their children with transitional housing while providing them with life training skills.

Midland Montessori School for the purchase of instructional aids.

Midland Odessa Symphony & Chorale to support its 45th season of concert performances.

PhotoMission Health Care for adult day care programs for the elderly and citizens with disabilities.

Museum of the Southwest to provide support for a new program in the Children’s
Museum entitled “Art’s View”.

Northside Community Action League to fund emergency medical and dental services for citizens of Big Spring.

Odessa LINKS for the expansion of the TapShare Program which allows nonprofits to track client histories and program outcomes.

Palmer Drug Abuse Program for general operating support of alcohol and drug abuse programs.

Recording Library of West Texas to provide audio versions of books and magazines to area residents who have difficulty reading due to blindness or other visual impairment.

Salvation Army of Big Spring to assist with the purchase of playground equipment to be used for the Big Spring Boys & Girls Club.

Salvation Army of Odessa to assist with emergency needs and shelter.

Special Olympics Texas to support programs to help developmentally challenged athletes learn goal setting and teamwork.

The Foundation awards grants following review of applications submitted in the Spring and Fall. Spring grant pre-applications are due at the Foundation’s offices on or before April 1st; fall pre-applications are due in the Foundation office on or before October 1st.
