Component Funds - Special Community Funds

This type of fund is non-permanent and established for a specific project or a community initiative.

Mom’s Cancer Care Assistance Fund – An anonymous donor created this fund to assist cancer patients with the severe costs of treatment and medication expenses.

PBAF Emergency Relief Fund – As an emergency resource for the community, this fund supports families experiencing serious financial circumstances as a result of catastrophic events. The Foundation works with local churches in the grant-making activities of this fund.

Texas Medal of Honor Project Fund – The creation and development of a statue commemorating Medal of Honor recipients from the State of Texas will be completed using resources from this fund. The statue will be featured in the new museum and restoration facility at the Commemorative Air Force complex.

Mission Adult Day Care

Mission Adult Day Care is a sanctuary for families suffering under the immense strain of providing quality in-home care for an aging or debilitated loved one. The adult day care program, supported by a grant from the Mrs. Donald O’Shaughnessy Fund of Permian Basin Area Foundation, provides a physical and emotional respite from full-time care giving, thus allowing families who have opted against a nursing home to maintain careers and education while preserving the dignity and independence of their relatives facing deteriorating health and mental status. With a focus on those suffering from Alzheimer’s and dementia, Mission staff provides quality medical oversight, nutritious meals, mental stimulation, and social interaction for clients which, in turn, alleviates stress and worry during the valuable time spent by caretakers both outside and inside of the home.

Funds of the Foundation are open to additional tax-deductible contributions. We also welcome the opportunity to visit with donors about creating new component funds for charitable purposes.
