Component Funds - Donor Advised Funds

Donor Advised Funds provide donors with the enjoyment and privilege of recommending grants from the fund they establish, subject to certain legal restrictions and approval by the Foundation’s Board of Governors.

Photo - Buddy AnguishBuddy Anguish Memorial Fund – Buddy Anguish’s life long commitment to numerous philanthropic causes is memorialized and honored through this fund established by his friends and family.

Baskin Family Fund* – This Fund was established by friends and family following the death of Judge Pat Baskin. In addition to many decades of volunteer service to the Midland community, Judge Baskin served as State District Judge even after his official retirement. The purpose of this fund is to support charitable community purposes.

Jake Busbee Memorial Fund – Friends of the family of Jake Busbee created this fund in memory of the infant, who died at birth.

Chris Davidson Memorial Fund – Resources from this fund, created by family and friends for Chris Davidson, are designated to assist children with disabilities or special needs.

Bob Duke Memorial Fund – Bob Duke, a local oil and gas business leader, is memorialized by his friends and family through this general charitable fund.

Clare Tompson Ellis Memorial Fund – As a loving tribute to the legacy of Midlander Clare Tompson Ellis, friends and family created this fund for charitable causes.

Photo - Bill FranklinBill Franklin Memorial Fund - This fund was created by friends and family to memorialize Bill Franklin, a Midland banker and civic leader who passed away in 2002.

Steve and Debbie Gray Fund* – Steve and Debbie Gray, longtime West Texans, established this fund to support general charitable causes.

Harral Family Fund*– Longtime Midlanders Bill and Ladye Ann Harral created this general charitable fund to support various community causes.

Charles F. Henderson Memorial Fund – Established by Elsie Florence Henderson in memory of her husband, this fund provides income allowing the purchase of books and materials for libraries and library affiliates.

Photo - Harriet HerdHarriet D. Herd Memorial Fund* – Harriet Herd was a charter member of the Foundation’s Board of Governors and a tireless leader of countless community causes. Upon her death, her friends and family created this fund to promote charitable activities Mrs. Herd supported throughout her life.

Horton Family Fund – Designated for general charitable purposes, this fund was established by Jay B. and Susan Horton.

Leon Jeffcoat Fund* – Established by the Board of Governors of Permian Basin Area Foundation, this fund honors Leon Jeffcoat, CPA for his many years of volunteer service to the Foundation.

Photo - The IttnersFrank and Mary Elizabeth Simpson Ittner Memorial Fund - Family and friends of longtime Midland residents Frank and Mary Elizabeth Ittner paid tribute to the couple by creating this fund to support charitable purposes and programs.

Bill Kennedy Memorial Fund – Bill Kennedy, a longtime Midland oilman and industry leader, is memorialized by his friends and family through this fund.

Lacy Fund – Charitable purposes and programs receive support from this fund, created by Juandelle Lacy Roberts and the late James W. Lacy.

Landreth Family Fund* – Robert E. and Donna Landreth created this fund to support broad charitable purposes.

Lynch Chappell & Alsup Charitable Fund – The partners of the law firm of Lynch Chappell & Alsup, PC established this fund for general charitable purposes.

McLaughlin Families Fund – Charitable causes within regional communities benefit from this fund established by Jim and Anne McLaughlin.

Mark Nicholas Fund – Mark Nicholas created this fund which provides support to charitable causes with an emphasis on scholarships and faith-based initiatives.

Mrs. Donald O’Shaughnessy Fund – Barbara J. O’Shaughnessy created this fund for general charitable uses and purposes.

Pharr Family Charitable Fund – This fund, established by Richard and Dianne Pharr, serves charitable causes of the region’s communities.
Jane and Ray Riddle Fund – Jane and Ray Riddle established this fund which supports charitable purposes and programs.

Logan Roberts Memorial Fund – Memorial gifts from family and friends created this fund supporting general charitable purposes in remembrance of Logan Roberts.

Rodney M. Robinson Advised Fund – This fund was created by Rodney M. Robinson to support charitable purposes and programs.

Joe G. and Julia R. Roper Memorial Fund – Upon their respective deaths, this fund was established for charitable purposes and programs by the family and friends of Julia and Joe Roper.

A.W. and Virginia S. Rutter Fund – A.W. and Virginia S. Rutter established this fund to support charitable purposes and programs.

Photo - Scott SeatorScott Seator/Midland Rockhounds Memorial Fund – Created by family and friends in memory of Scott Seator, who served as Director of Communication for the Midland Class AA professional baseball team, this fund benefits Permian Basin youth activities and programs.

Joseph Rhatie Singh Memorial Education Fund – A native of Guyana and lifelong educator, Rhatie Singh spent his last days with family in Midland. This fund was established by Mr. Singh’s family and friends and supports community education programs.

Shauna Stokes Sanderson Memorial Fund* – The life of Shauna Stokes Sanderson was memorialized by her friends and family through this fund which is designated for general charitable purposes.

Stoltz Royalty Fund – Deane and Janet Stoltz created this fund to support charitable purposes and programs

Swallow Family Fund – Created by Jack and Julia Swallow, this fund benefits charitable purposes and programs.

Photo - Ned SwallowNed Swallow Memorial Fund – Upon the death of longtime Midland resident Ned Swallow, memorial gifts from family and friends enabled the creation of this fund which supports general charitable purposes with an emphasis on those for which Mr. Swallow volunteered during his lifetime.

Jess Ann Thomason Memorial Fund – In remembrance of Jess Ann Thomason, Midland community volunteer and civic leader, family and friends established this fund supporting programs that were dear to Ms. Thomason.

Trinity Fund – Established by an anonymous donor, this fund is allocated for general charitable purposes.

West Family Fund – The Thomas West family created this fund to support charitable purposes and programs.

Johnny and Margaret Williams Advised Fund – Retired educators Johnny and Margaret Williams established this fund for general charitable purposes.

Vicki J. Wilson Advised Fund – Kerrville resident Vicki J. Wilson created this fund benefiting charitable purposes and programs.

Wood Family Fund* – This Fund was established following the death of Lee Wood by his family and friends. Its purpose is to support general charitable purposes in the communities of the Permian Basin.

*These funds have been established since the publication of the Foundation’s last annual report.

Permian Basin Area Foundation administers a number of other funds the donors to which have requested anonymity.

Funds of the Foundation are open to additional tax-deductible contributions. We also welcome the opportunity to visit with donors about creating new component funds for charitable purposes.
