Component Funds - Donor Advised Funds

Donor Advised Funds provide donors with the enjoyment and privilege of recommending grants from the fund they establish, subject to certain legal restrictions and approval by the Foundation’s Board of Governors.

Photo - Buddy AnguishBuddy Anguish Memorial Fund – This fund was established by the friends and family of Buddy Anguish in his memory and in honor of his lifelong commitment to numerous philanthropic causes.

Jake Busbee Memorial Fund – This fund was created by friends of the family of Jake Busbee, who died at birth.

Chris Davidson Memorial Fund – This fund was created by family and friends of Chris Davidson to assist children with disabilities or special needs.

Bob Duke Memorial Fund – This fund was created by friends and family of Midlander, Bob Duke, an oil and gas business leader. It provides support for general charitable purposes.

Clare Tompson Ellis Memorial Fund – This fund was established by friends and family of Midlander Clare Tompson Ellis as a loving tribute to her life. Clare Ellis was dedicated to improving the quality of life in Midland and the fund provides resources for an array of charitable causes.

Charles F. Henderson Memorial Fund – Created by Elsie Florence Henderson in memory of her husband, this fund provides income for the purchase of books and materials for libraries and library affiliates.

Hendrix Family Fund – This fund was created by the John Hendrix family to support charitable purposes and programs.

Horton Family Fund – This fund was established by Jay B. and Susan Horton for general charitable purposes.

Bill Kennedy Memorial Fund – This fund was created by family and friends of Bill Kennedy, a long-time Midland oilman and industry leader.

Lacy Fund – This fund was created by Juandelle Lacy Roberts and the late James W. Lacy to support charitable purposes and programs.

Lynch Chappell & Alsup Charitable Fund* – This fund was established by the partners of the law firm of Lynch Chappell & Alsup, PC, for general charitable purposes.

McLaughlin Families Fund – This fund was created by James and Anne McLaughlin for serving charitable causes of the region’s communities.

Mark Nicholas Fund – This fund was created by Mark Nicholas to support charitable causes, primarily scholarships and faith-based initiatives.

Mrs. Donald O’Shaughnessy Fund – Barbara J. O’Shaughnessy created this fund for general charitable uses and purposes.

Pharr Family Charitable Fund – Richard and Diane Pharr created this fund to serve charitable causes of the region’s communities.

Jane and Ray Riddle Fund – This fund was created by Jane and Ray Riddle to support charitable purposes and programs.

Logan Roberts Memorial Fund* – This fund was created in memory of Logan Roberts with memorial gifts from family and friends. The fund supports general charitable purposes.

Rodney M. Robinson Advised Fund – This fund was created by Rodney M. Robinson to support charitable purposes and programs.

Joe G. and Julia R. Roper Memorial Fund – This fund was created for charitable purposes and programs by the family and friends of Julia and Joe Roper, upon their respective deaths.

A.W. and Virginia S. Rutter Fund – This fund was established by A.W. and Virginia S. Rutter to support charitable purposes and programs.

Photo - Scott SeatorScott Seator/Midland Rockhounds Memorial Fund – This fund was created by family and friends in memory of Scott Seator, who served as Director of Communication for the Midland Class AA professional baseball team. Grants from this fund are directed to Permian Basin youth activities and programs.

Joseph Rhatie Singh Memorial Education Fund* – This fund was established by the family and friends of Rhatie Singh, a native of Guyana and lifelong educator, who spent his last days with family in Midland. The fund supports community education programs.

Stoltz Royalty Fund – This fund was created by Deane and Janet Stoltz to support charitable purposes and programs.

Swallow Family Fund – This fund was created by Jack and Julia Swallow to support charitable purposes and programs.

Photo - Ned SwallowNed Swallow Memorial Fund* – This fund was created with memorial gifts from family and friends upon the death of Ned Swallow, longtime Midland resident and community volunteer. The fund supports general charitable purposes, with emphasis toward those causes for which Mr. Swallow volunteered during his lifetime.

Jess Ann Thomason Memorial Fund* – This fund was established by the family and friends of Jess Ann Thomason, Midland community volunteer and civic leader. The fund supports programs that were dear to Ms. Thomason.

Trinity Fund – This fund was established by an anonymous donor for general charitable purposes.

West Family Fund – This fund was created by the Thomas West family to support charitable purposes and programs.

Johnny and Margaret Williams Advised Fund – This fund was established by retired educators Johnny and Margaret Williams for general charitable purposes.

Vicki J. Wilson Advised Fund – This fund was created by Vicki J. Wilson of Kerrville to support charitable purposes and programs.

ArtWalk Midland produces free, family art events featuring a variety of visual, musical, theatrical, and cultural experiences. These stimulating events connect the community and avail young and old to an increased awareness of local talent, creativity and opportunity. A grant from the Foundation will support ArtWalk’s Gospel Night event this summer.

*These funds have been established since the publication of the Foundation’s last annual report.

Permian Basin Area Foundation administers a number of other funds the donors to which have requested anonymity.

Funds of the Foundation are open to additional tax-deductible contributions. We also welcome the opportunity to visit with donors about creating new component funds for charitable purposes.
