Component Funds - Field of Interest Funds

Field of Interest Funds support areas of particular interest to the donor such as the arts, education, or the elderly. The actual recipients of grants from these funds are determined by the Foundation’s Grants Committee or an advisory committee in accordance with the donor’s wishes.

Connell Family Fund – This fund was established through an estate gift by John D. and Winifred Connell. The fund is directed to specific charitable needs in Martin County, at the recommendation of the Martin County Community Fund Advisory Committee.

C. Craig Johnson Memorial Fund – This fund was created by friends and family of C. Craig Johnson to develop and support junior golf for the youth of Midland, Texas.

Martin County Comunity Fund – This fund was created by an initial gift from Grace Loveless Jones, a long-time Martin County resident and supporter of community causes. The focus of the fund’s broad charity is to address general needs of Martin County, Texas.

Big Bend Players is a performing arts and a theatre education organization serving the Alpine community and surrounding area. The Foundation provided a grant during 2001 for expanded programming, including a children's theatre workshop.

Midland Housing Trust Fund – This fund was created to address the need for safe, clean, and affordable housing for residents of Midland County.

Women Dancing for Women Fund§ - Resources from this fund are available for distribution to nonprofit organizations that provide services for women in need as a result of illness, abuse or catastrophic circumstances.

Tom and Mildred Wood Fund – This fund was created by friends of Tom and Mildred Wood, long-time Dawson County, Texas, residents. Income from the fund is for youth opportunities and general charitable needs in Dawson County.

Notes:

§ - The Foundation is pleased to make mention of these funds which were created subsequent to December 31, 2001. Donors to these funds will be reflected in the 2002 Annual Report.

Permian Basin Area Foundation administers a number of other funds, the donors to which have requested anonymity.

Funds of the Foundation are open to additional tax-deductible contributions. We also welcome the opportunity to visit with donors about creating new component funds for charitable purposes.
