With this Annual Report, Permian Basin Area Foundation marks ten years as an organization dedicated to serving people and people-serving agencies of our region's communities.
From the Chairman and Executive Director
The construction of a house begins with a vision, followed by detailed plans and hard, skilled work. The result is a shelter for a family. For ten years, a dedicated board and professional staff have labored in similar fashion to create and sustain Permian Basin Area Foundation - a shelter of philanthropy.
Combined Statements of Position and Activities for the year ending December 31, 1999, are compared with the previous year's results.
These funds provide the Foundation's board with the greatest flexibility in meeting urgent and changing needs in the Permian Basin area.
These funds support areas of particular interest to the donor, such as the arts, education or the elderly.
These funds provide donors with the privilege of suggesting grants from the fund they establish.
Permanent Funds Supporting Agencies
These funds are created to benefit specific agencies or to accomplish a specific purpose within those agencies.
Community Project Special Purpose Funds
These funds are non-permanent and are established for a specific project or community initiative.
These funds are created by donors who want to benefit named charitable organizations or to accomplish a specific purpose.
These funds are established by donors to provide students with opportunities to further their education or training.
A list of families and individuals, foundations, organizations and businesses who donated their resources through the Foundation in 1999.
31 Discretionary Grants, totaling over $160,000.00, were made in 1999.
Donor-Advised and Designated Fund Grants and Distributions
59 of these Grants were made in 1999, totaling over $464,000.00.
Seven Endowed Agency Distributions, totaling over $100,000.00, were made last year.
Scholarships totaling more than $83,000.00 were made to 25 educational institutions.
49 individual scholarships were provided in 1999 to students from a dozen different Permian Basin communities.
